Haloa-naka the older brother of the Hawaiian people, the son of the Sky and the Earth gives the gift of Kalo, (taro) sustaining life on the islands. The pig, pua‘a, forms the altar on which we give thanks for the bounty of our Polynesian heritage and the horse, an immigrant in historical times all live in harmony with the man in a lifestyle that reaches from mauka to makai, from the mountains to the sea, the ahupua‘a.
